Remove All Mice Droppings

The first thing you should do is search for mouse droppings throughout your home so that you can get rid of them. Feces from rodents often carries diseases and germs, which can cause people in your home to become sick.

Mice feces is usually very small and in the shape of a cylinder. Fresh mice feces will have a darker color than old feces, which is something to keep in mind to determine where the mice have recently been. Be sure to wear gloves when handling the feces, and put it in a bag that you throw directly into your trash canister.

You can use a disinfectant to clean the surface where you found the mice feces. This is necessary to remove the germs from the area, which will prevent it from spreading in your home as well.

Set Live Traps

Chances are that you do not want to deal with a trap that can kill a mouse, such as an old-fashioned spring trap. You can instead use a live trap that is made with steel, which ensures the mouse can't chew through the material once it is inside.

You don't have to use cheese to bait a live mouse trap, since there are many foods that mice will eat. This includes hot dogs, bacon bits, peanut butter, and wet pet food. Once you have the mouse trapped inside, you can release the mouse back into the wild in a place that is far away from your home.

Call An Exterminator

Catching the mice that roam around your home won't be enough to solve the problem. You will need the help of a professional exterminator. They'll be able to find the points where mice can enter your home, which can be surprisingly small. A mouse can actually fit through a hole that is the size of a pencil, or about a quarter of an inch.

Radio frequencies can also be used to drive the mice away. Some homeowners prefer this method to poison, since it doesn't leave anything toxic around your home.
